Revolver is the first drawing machine I created to focus on the fundamentals of neutralism, Designed on the premise on working larger and slower to exert the power of machines in relevance to my most recent study in my dissertation, Revolver is designed despite its magnitude to create a minimalist mark using fine powder to emphasize space, equilibrium and balance, something I believe is highly prominent in the practical creation of neutralism.

Revolver (MK II)

This is the most recent update of the Revolver, ready for the ‘Apex’ exhibition. (image below shows it installed alongside Chalk-on-Chalk, wall-mounted video.) Developed from drawing with chalk to dispensing graphite powder to mimic its fundamental use of a drawing machine by using basic drawing tools. The final result ended up in a research project on same material contact, expressed in the Chalk on Chalk video and through the contact of steel pole. The relationship between objects, made prevalent in Marcel Duchamp’s ‘Infra-thin’ in a more literal aspect through physical contact helps to further the exploration of neutralism in machine driven mundane collaboration, equilibrium, balance and the qualities of the word ‘neutral’ in a literal and fundamental sense all play part in The Revolver’s automatized existence.

Due to a temporary glitch within the website, links directly displaying video for some reason – are not showing in full, alternatively, more recent documentation of the Revolver MKII is available below.
